Scoutmaster's Message
Welcome!
Thanks for visiting Scouts BSA Troop 37, Spring Lake, Michigan. If you are interested in having fun and outdoor adventures, you have come to the right place!
Our Troop is chartered by Spring Lake Presbyterian Church. We meet at the church every Monday during the school year from 7-8:30pm. The address is 760 E Savidge St, Spring Lake, MI 49456.
The Troop camps every month of the year. Our outings are planned by our Scouts based on their interests. We are fortunate to have a canoe trailer with 6 canoes to use on our adventures. We have taken a camping trip by canoe along the Pere Marquette River, we have also gone bikepacking on the North Country Trail, backpacking in Nordhouse dunes and most recently we kayaked Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. If the Scouts can dream it, we can do it.
Our dues have increased as of August 1, 2023 and we are now asked to pay $80 for National and $80 for our local Council. Our troop charges only this $160 so we can keep your expenses down. The equipment and monthly campsite fees are paid for by the combined fundraising efforts of every family in the troop. We have a Monopoly Tournament in March and we also sell lunch at the annual Coast Guard Ferrysburg Community Picnic. With the help of all the families and Scouts, we are able to be successful at our two fundraisers. These funds pay for our campsites, our equipment, our patches and awards. The week-long summer resident camp that we attend every summer and future high adventure trips will be paid for by individual fundraising efforts.
Community service is important to our Troop. We give back to our chartered organization and to our community throughout the year. We volunteer for several events during Coast Guard Festival, we rake leaves, spread mulch, set up Christmas trees on the tree lot after Thanksgiving, we have collected food for the church pantry and of course Eagle projects of all types.
To visit us, give me a call or stop by on a meeting night. We look forward to seeing you soon.
